Jack.org SMLS is part of a national network of students working to change the way we think about mental health. We work within our school to shift negative attitudes, beliefs, and behaviours around mental health, so we can create a safer, more supportive community.

"To accomplish our goal of decreasing the stigma around mental health, the SMLS Jack chapter will be holding our second event Friday January 22, 2016. This event is called Break the Rules day, and the aim is to BREAK the stigma around Mental Health. We are asking the community of St- Mildreds Lightbourn School to dress out of uniform for 1 day only. Breaking the rules could be wearing normal shoes, funky socks, and an accessory like a hat or wearing their favourite sweater. We hope that by breaking our uniform we can continue to take a step towards our end goal of breaking the stigma around mental health."

SMLS Jack Chapter's Ball Pit Surprise https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5a6Kh2P...

"On Thursday December 10th, SMLS Jack Chapter held their first event. Using the ball pit as the event's main appeal, we were able to take the first step towards starting the conversation. Students and teachers alike were able to have fun in the ball pit while talking about both mental health and everyday topics such as, their favourite ice cream flavours. The event was a tremendous success and the staff and students at SMLS thoroughly enjoyed it. Breaking the stigma is hard but SMLS Jack Chapter is up for the challenge."

"The SMLS Jack Chapter is hosting their first event on Thursday December 10th. It's time to get the conversation started at SMLS. Students will be able to have fun, while helping to break the stigma that surrounds mental health. Our first event will be one where students will have the opportunity to discuss mental health while sitting in a ball pit, because why not? SMLS Jack Chapter's Ball Pit Surprise will be the first official event held by the SMLS Chapter and throughout the year, we plan on hosting several more events to continue the conversation."
