I was inspired to become an advocate when I was struggling with my own mental health. At the time, I tried to access mental health care and I realized that there were so many barriers to care, such as long wait times and expensive costs. I also became familiar with how much stigma there was toward people who struggle with their mental health and those who access mental health services. I became an advocate because I want to fight for more accessible mental health care, as well as help educate people to reduce the barriers to accessing care.

What I’m looking forward to doing as a Network Rep: Talking with other youth about mental health and bonding with them. I’m also excited to share my opinion on programs to help them be even better suited to the needs of youth.
