Michael Braithwaite is a passionate and proven not-for-profit leader with more than 30 years of experience advancing social impact across the housing and youth services sectors. As President and CEO of Jack.org, Michael brings his deep expertise in organizational leadership, strategic implementation, fundraising, and community partnerships to help improve youth mental health outcomes across Canada.
Before joining Jack.org, Michael served as CEO of Blue Door, one of Canada’s leading housing and homelessness service organizations. During his tenure, he spearheaded the creation of job training and employment programs to help prevent homelessness; led the development of six new supportive housing projects, including the Greater Toronto Area’s first supportive housing for 2SLGBTQ+ youth; and expanded Blue Door’s reach into Durham, Peel, Niagara, and Halifax.
Previously, Michael led Raising the Roof, where he launched a national initiative to repurpose underutilized properties into affordable housing. At 360°kids, he developed several innovative programs for youth, including Nightstop (community-based emergency housing), iGrad (education supports), and an anti-human trafficking initiative.
Michael’s leadership has been recognized nationally. He received the King Charles III Medal in 2024 for outstanding community service and was awarded a Chamber of Commerce Leadership in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion award for his commitment to building inclusive solutions for underserved populations.
Michael is deeply committed to ensuring that every young person in Canada has access to the mental health support they need to thrive. He looks forward to collaborating with the Jack.org community of youth, donors, partners, and advocates to build a better future for young people in Canada.
